The luxury Mysuru textile wallpaper collection by Belgian brand ARTE draws inspiration from the Indian city of the same name, known for its impressive architecture, colourful festivals, lush vegetation and, above all, its long tradition of silk production. The character of the collection emerges from two distinctive elements of this setting – refined silk and the silhouettes of palm trees that form a natural part of the local landscape. The result is a series of wallpapers with pronounced material depth, a subtle sheen and a sophisticated exotic character.
Genuine silk, delicate embroidery and precise jacquard craftsmanship
The collection comprises three designs – Mandya, Aranya and Nilaya. Mandya is a plain textile wallcovering made from luxurious silk. Cold-water dyeing and the use of silk fibres in subtly varying shades give it exceptional colour depth while preserving the naturally fresh, slightly raw character of the material. Natural irregularities and variations in the silk yarn are an intentional part of its authentic appearance.
Aranya brings the atmosphere of the lush landscape surrounding Mysuru to the wall. Delicately embroidered palm leaves create an elegant botanical motif with a distinctive textile character. The name Aranya refers in Sanskrit to a peaceful place among trees, perfectly reflecting the calm, nature-inspired character of the design.
The most striking design in the collection is the panoramic wallpaper Nilaya. Stylised dwellings hidden among tall palm trees form an exotic scene framed by a detailed pattern reminiscent of traditional woven latticework. The entire motif is precisely woven from genuine silk using jacquard techniques, giving the surface subtle dimensionality and exceptionally refined detail. The panorama measures 260 × 320 cm and can be repeated continuously.
